The technical team actually get involved before the land is even purchased to understand the potential costs involved with a project and to establish the land value. They then move to obtain appropriate planning permission

It is important that we as a responsible housebuilder work closely with the Local Authority Planning Department. All building work must have planning permission to make sure that it is being built to the appropriate quality standard, maximises value and that it benefits local communities in areas of identified housing need. Technical roles include:

  • Design engineer
  • Design Architectural technician
  • Service engineer
  • Site Engineer
  • Project manager
  • Affordable Housing administrator

 

In the case of Ottermead, Bellway submitted a detailed planning application for the new build element, as well as to convert the listed buildings as part of the planning process. When the terms were agreed the applications were heard at Public Planning Meetings and consents were approved.

Once planning permission has been given, more detailed plans can be created to make sure that all building materials are bought and in place at the right time and comply with planning requirements.
