What is the most interesting thing about working for Bellway, and about the work you do?

Working for Bellway is always a pleasure and never a chore when you have brilliant people around you. Working within this bespoke role is like no other, my workload is varied, from going out and appraising a parcel of land to sitting down with the different departments and coming together to overcome any problems to create a superb architectural environment.

What are three benefits you’ve discovered about working here that you weren’t aware of when you started?

Trying to write down the benefits about working for Bellway is like walking into an all you can eat restaurant! Where do you start?

One of the many benefits to working for Bellway is the opportunity to progress as they are very big on promoting within.

The biggest benefit in my opinion is that everyone shares the same passion and are truly dedicated. This creates a real family environment.

What advice would you give a job seeker who’s thinking about applying for a role with us?

If you’re thinking of applying for a role with Bellway then don’t hold back,  apply with confidence that you will be embarking on or furthering your  working career with a 5* builder. You will be competing with other applicants out there for a position within Bellway, so stand out, be different and make yourself heard! If you were a Bellway house type what would you be and why?

Coming from an architectural background my favorite Bellway house type has to be the Draper. This is due to its clean, contemporary look and proud architectural stance. It has more than enough floor space to hold a small party!

Job Title: Trainee Engineer

Division/Department: North West - Technical

Length of time at Bellway: 9 Months

What is the most interesting thing about working for Bellway, and about the work you do?

Being able to talk to people of many trades and learn from them all. Learning about how Bellway has grown from a family business. Being able to watch the full end to end process of finding land to people moving in.

What are three benefits you’ve discovered about working here that you weren’t aware of when you started?

One of the benefits of working for Bellway is the extensive experience of my co-workers have to enable me to learn and grow from them. The biggest benefit for me personally is that Bellway is supporting me through a Civil Engineering degree whilst working full time.

What advice would you give a job seeker who’s thinking about applying for a role with us?

Your CV should truly reflect yourself. Engage with the business (if you are a young person get some work experience). Understand your own strengths and weaknesses.

If you were a Bellway house type what would you be and why?

I’d be a Watchmaker because the ground floor is large and open plan which makes it very family orientated. Also I think a Watchmaker is much like an engineer as it has many individual pieces that go together to make it work. The Watchmaker is also one of the bigger house types and I believe that you’ve got to back yourself, aim high and give it your all.

Job Title: Land Graduate

Division/Department: Kent - Land Department

Length of time at Bellway: 11 months

What is the most interesting thing about working for Bellway, and about the work you do?

Variety is what keeps my job interesting. I can go from an important meeting with London based land agents to climbing through bushes in the countryside within the space of a few hours! Also, I find my colleagues to be very engaging and passionate about their work making it easy to become fully immersed in all things Land on a daily basis.

What are three benefits you’ve discovered about working here that you weren’t aware of when you started?

Firstly, I didn’t realise that I would be venturing out and interacting with other people within the industry as much as I do. Whether it’s going out to speak with agents while conducting market research or attending educational seminars alongside others within the industry, the experiences I’ve had in talking to different people have been invaluable.

Also, in relation to my first point, the opportunities to attend educational seminars are something I didn’t think would be so actively encouraged and I didn’t realise how helpful they would be until I went to one.

Finally, before I joined I was unaware of the opportunities that would be available to get involved with charity. Many of the staff at Bellway are motivated to do their bit, which has led to me taking part in a 28 mile sponsored walk from East Grinstead to Brighton for Cancer Research where we raised over £7,000, a fantastic achievement and a fantastic contribution to a great cause with all the money raised being matched by Bellway.

What advice would you give a job seeker who’s thinking about applying for a role with us?

Go for it! The comfortable and affable nature of the Bellway working environment makes coming to work every morning very easy. Sometimes the day flies by so quick you don’t even realise that the end of the day has come, which is something I’ve never really experienced working elsewhere.

If you were a Bellway house type what would you be and why?

If I were a Bellway house type I’d be The Cooper because although it’s not big or grand, it represents the first step on the housing ladder for many young people and for me personally it represents the first stage of my Bellway career. This also allows for aspiration towards the senior positions within the company, which large house types such as The Watchmaker or The Draper would represent.
