I began my career in sales after leaving school and started by selling jewellery in a High Street shop.

This led to a stint as a car salesperson before I landed a job selling houses for a small building firm.

The sales advisor role is one of those jobs where you have regular contact with your competitors. Whenever I spoke to a Bellway employee, the feedback I got was always so positive. It was one of the companies where no-one ever seemed to leave so one day I applied for a job – and I got it.

When I applied for the job I found the application process very fair and straightforward. It was reassuring to receive a host of information about the company, my contract and benefits after the interview. My advice for anyone who wants to work for Bellway is simple – just ask.

I have been at Bellway for nine years and for five of these I have been Part Exchange Manager. My role is to help people who have a property to sell to buy a new Bellway home through our Part Exchange scheme, where we purchase their property off them, or via our Express Mover initiative, where we liaise with estate agents to help sell the property.

I am here to establish a property valuation and view the property to see its suitability for the schemes. The progression of the purchase of a Part Exchange property, likewise the sale of an Express Mover property, is also part of my responsibilities. I also oversee the resale of the properties we have purchased.

I feel lucky to work for Bellway as it’s like an extended family. The company has a good management support structure that employees can turn to, which gives you the confidence to check that you are making the correct decisions.

In addition to enabling me to further my career, Bellway has embraced my speaking out about my work life as a gay man, with an article about me for Pride month in June 2022 distributed throughout the company. That was a real ‘wow moment’, especially as it was so positively received.

I have a lot of life and work experiences as a member of the LGBTQi plus community to draw on which I am more than willing to share. I am passionate about respect, diversity, and fair play and these chime with the values that Bellway holds so strongly.
