There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Northern Home Counties Division is looking to recruit a Customer Care Maintenance Operative to join the Division’s Customer Care team.

The Role

The Customer Care Maintenance Operative carries out inspections and maintenance work to the highest standard work on newly sold homes within the Divisional area.

The role of Customer Care Maintenance Operative reports to the Customer Care Manager / Team Leader.

Principal accountabilities of the Customer Care Maintenance Operative role include:

  • To contribute to the delivery of the level of service as set out in the Bellway Customer Care Charter and to the standard as identified in the Bellway Customer Care Best Practice guide and to NHBC standards
  • Attend scheduled appointments for remediation of reported defects in occupied properties and complete any repairs or defects to a high standard
  • Liaise with the Customer Care Team based in the Divisional office and ensure all required resources are available or requested via the Customer Care Team prior to attending the customers home
  • Ensure all appointment instructions are understood prior to attending the appointment
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Company van ensuring the vehicle is clean and tidy at all times and any defects are reported
  • Report completed tasks and updates to the team including any necessary escalations
  • Ensure NHBC, health and safety, PPE and property protection requirements are abided by
  • Ensure all concerns are escalated and any feedback patterns are reported to the Customer Care Inspection Manager or Head of Customer Care

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a multi-trade skilled role 
  • Basic plumbing and carpentry experience (e.g replacing wash hand basins , shower controls WCs taps, adjusting doors, stopping squeaking floors )
  • The ability to tile large areas to a high standard  (e.g shower cubicles)
  • Preparation of materials and decoration of wall/ceilings and woodwork
  • The ability to think outside the box and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Experience working in a customer facing role
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks 
  • Able to demonstrate efficiency, reliability and work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Experience working in the housebuilding industry would be advantageous  

Qualifications and Training

  • Current and Full UK Driving Licence

Skills and Aptitude

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and relation building skills 
  • General IT skills

  • Knowledge of NHBC regulations, standards and warranty would be advantageous.

The Role and Working Conditions

  • Working inside or outside and as part of a team in all weather’s conditions
  • Travel to various site locations may be required  
  • PPE provided
  • Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked
  • This role will involve a high degree of manual handling
  • Must be comfortable working in lived in customer houses
  • Lone working
