Our commitment as a responsible and ethical housebuilder does not end when we hand over the keys. Our aim is to operate our business in an ethical and sustainable manner while at the same time delivering high quality homes to address the housing shortage across the UK.

As a 5 star housebuilder, we are committed to understanding and meeting the aspirations of all our customers. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptionally high standard of service and build quality.

In the last year alone we have provided 997 days of customer care training; an approach which has been a definite success, with 9 out of 10 customers saying they would recommend buying a new home from Bellway to a friend.

Supporting local & national charities

We established our first national charity partnership in 2015 with the British Heart Foundation and the Construction Youth Trust.

Over the course of the next 18 months we raised and donated more than £265,000 to these two charities.

Following the success of this collaboration, in 2016 we entered into a new partnership with Cancer Research UK and set ourselves some ambitious fundraising targets:

  • Year 1 aim was to raise £100,000 – we raised and donated over £385,000
  • Year 2 aim was to reach £600,000 – we raised and donated over £780,000
  • Year 3 aim was to reach £1million – so far we have raised £1.1m

The partnership has been extended for a further 2 years with the aim of reaching £2 million in fundraising / donations and we now ‘double match’ any money raised by our employees – so if a member of staff raises £1,000 for CRUK, Bellway donate another £2,000 to the charity.

Subsequently the CRUK partnership was recognised at the 2018 Business Charity Awards, winning the Charity Partnership Award (Construction & Property). An outstanding achievement!!

Our commitment to supporting charities does not end there. Each division holds their own designated budget to support local charities and community groups within their area of operation.

Finally, employee fundraising for charities of their choice (other than Cancer Research UK) is also matched by the company.

Sustainability & Recycling

Our commitment to being a responsible and ethical housebuilder does not end there. We are constantly striving to improve our carbon footprint and energy performance across the business.

While waste is an unavoidable by-product of building new homes, we aim to use our resources as efficiently as possible and send as much waste as possible to reuse and recycling. In 2018 we diverted 98.1% of our waste from landfill for reuse, recycling or refuse-derived fuel (2017 – 97.8%)

We design our new homes so they are energy efficient, benefiting our customers (our homes are 5% more energy efficient than required) All lights in new homes are energy efficient.

We also install energy saving technology into all of our site compounds.
